HHCP: Production, chemical structure and effects

The cannabinoid HHC-P takes the form of a viscous oil. This compound is not found in nature as it is produced synthetically in laboratories. It is most often amber or pale yellow in colour.

The cannabinoid HHC-P has a side chain of seven carbons and is therefore similar to the better-known cannabinoid THCP (tetrahydrocannabichlor). Scientific knowledge to date suggests that the longer the alkyl chain of a cannabinoid, the better it binds to the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the endocannabinoid system.

What is the purpose of the endocannabinoid system? When the human body is struggling with stress or starvation, the endocannabinoid system steps in to help restore balance.

What are the effects of HHC-P cannabinoid?

Similar to HHC-P, use of HHC products can lead to changes in auditory and visual perception, changes in interpretation of time, and users may experience states of euphoria after consumption.

HHC-P products may also have great potential in promoting sleep. However, other effects may also occur:

  • Increased appetite
  • Feelings of relaxation
  • Relief from stress

Users of HHC-P say that from initial consumption, the effects most often occur within a few dozen minutes. However, due to its strong binding to receptors in the endocannabinoid system, it can subsequently last for several hours.

Side effects of HHC-P

Researchers have not yet established any standardised dose of HHC-P or clear evidence of long-term effects. There is not much reliable information on HHC-P yet and it is therefore advisable for everyone to be cautious when using this cannabinoid.

HHC-P is a cannabinoid with significant psychoactive properties. Side effects such as:

  • Redness of the eyes.
  • Dry mouth
  • Paranoia
  • Anxiety
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Insomnia
  • Dizziness

Pending scientific studies

However, the cannabinoid HHC-P has not yet been sufficiently studied by scientists. As HHC-P is one of the new cannabinoids, we do not yet have enough information about its effects on the body.

The substance is not missing from the list of banned addictive substances in most of the world. The same is true in the Czech Republic. Although HHC-P has not yet been added to this list, the status of this cannabinoid may change rapidly.

Due to the lack of regulation in the Czech Republic and other countries, it is advisable to purchase HHC-P products only from reputable manufacturers who provide at least partial assurance of safety, quality and correct labelling.

What HHC-P products are available?

The range of HHC-P products is extensive and growing. Manufacturers like to combine HHC-P with other cannabinoids to complement or enhance the effects. Everyone can choose from HHC-P vapes, cartridges, hashes, gummies or flowers.

Commonly available HHC-P products meet the legal limit for THC content (up to 1 % in the Czech Republic). In practice, the HHC-P content in flowers, vape foams and liquids is usually below 0,2-0,3 % THC.

If you are considering trying HHC-P products, start with a low dose first and follow the manufacturer's recommendations.

Conclusion

The cannabinoid HHC-P is a new addition to the global cannabis market, but there are no scientific studies yet that have looked at the effects of HHC-P on the body and mind. Therefore, HHC-P products should be approached with caution.
